The Foundation regularly supports Cure Parkinson’s research because they are making a significant progress to slow down, stop or reverse the progression of the Parkinson disease.
Parkinson is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world. The underlying symptoms of Parkinson are treated with a range of medication, but currently none of these are effectively having an impact on the disease.
Curing Parkinson needs world-class collaborative science involving researchers, clinicians, the pharmaceutical industry and, most importantly, people who are living with Parkinson. This collaboration is at the heart of a consolidated research program that enables the world’s leading neuroscientists and neurologists to prioritize, together, the next generation of drugs for clinical trial. Acting with urgency, for people currently living with Parkinson, with a focus on research which has potential to translate into the clinic within five years is one of the main goals.
The key is to find treatments that change the way the disease progresses, and transform the lives of everyone living with Parkinson. Thanks to major inroads and constant advances in the understanding of the condition, new efforts to match this emerging science with new treatments are now underway. The main focus is to guide, promote and sustain these efforts and ultimately to find a cure.
